FILLING UP SPACE
Singapore’s design community will be soon on the Fritz – Fritz Hansen, that is. As part of a landmark S$50 million investment, Australian respected ultra high-end furniture retailer, Space Furniture, is slated to open its very first Asian headquarters along Bencoolen Street in the 3rd quarter 2011. Called Space Asian Hub, the gigantic multiplex – spanning three blocks, including two retrofitted buildings – will retail 14 of Europe’s most prestigious modern furniture brands, including: B&B Italia, Giorgetti, Cassina, Carl Hansen & Son, Flexform, Fritz Hansen, Kartell, Poliform, Moooi, Acerbis, Vitra and Varenna by Polifom, to name but a few. “When opened, the Space Asian Hub will be the platform as the launch pad for ultra-luxe furniture pieces specially designed by the Europeans for the Asian region,” said Syddal Wee, General Manager of Space Furniture, Asia Operations. Chan Ee Mun, Senior Associate of WOHA and architect of the Space Asian Hub, added: “With Space, we have like-minded clients whose business is to enhance spatial qualities with the best contemporary furniture available.”
